Scott C. Howell, DDS, DMSc received a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York City. Following dental school, he enrolled in a four-year endodontic residency program at the Harvard University College of Dental Medicine in Boston, graduating with a Doctor of Medical Sciences degree in Oral Biology and a Certificate in Endodontics.
Dr. Howell has served as a pre-doctoral clinical instructor in Endodontics at Harvard, endodontics resident at Boston Children’s Hospital and the Harvard Dental Center, and researcher at the world-renowned Forsyth Institute, where he conducted research in periodontal disease and endodontics. After completing his dental training, he worked in private practice in Southern California and Texas and was the endodontist-on-staff at Camp Pendleton, where he treated U.S. Marines and their family.
Dr. Howell has received multiple honors for his work in endodontics, including an award for Divisional Excellence in Endodontics from Columbia University; the Krakow Award for Excellence in Research from Harvard University; and an award for Excellence in Endodontics from the American Association of Endodontics. Dr. Howell has also written several articles related to endodontics, periodontics, and operative dentistry and has been published in multiple journals. He is a member of the American Dental Association and regional dental societies, and he is a Specialist Member of the American Association of Endodontists.
